Teddy Roosevelt was here!

Oh my! We have been just overwhelmed and tickled to hear about this old place from our neighbors. From perhaps hidden treasures, Indian burial grounds to famous guests that stayed here WAY back!

There was a guest book that was about 24" thick or more with a complied list of dignitary's, royalty, and Teddy Roosevelt! WOW! I'm overjoyed and can't wait to dig deeper to hear more!Well, the book was supposedly donated to a museum, along with much of the contents of the hunting lodge. Be nice to have a lead on where they went!

If these walls could talk I'm sure they would have plenty to say! From rope beds to hunters lockers to brass shotgun shells... Ah, the history of this place as well as the area around us.

I heard about fun fact of Gypsy the cow, who produced a record breaking milk production during her lifetime is buried on Belshaw to the more sinister of the Spilotro brothers (Mob) that were dumped in a corn field. (The film Casino re-enacts the event)

Still in ewe of our little slice of heaven here! Want a tour of the place? We are still working on it and hope to have it cleaned up more for future tours as well as BB and antique shop. The Barn sale has been keeping us busy and we do accept gently used items.

So if you are in the neighborhood to stop by and chat. Hope to see ya soon!

We lost chickens!

Super SAD FACE! We lost 11 chickens to plain ole' negligence... We had the Cornish birds in the coop but did not take enough measures to ensure they would be safely in the coop. The critter attacked at night, with dig marks all over the area in the soft dirt and along the boards of the coop. Sadly, the front gate was not secured properly and eventually the booger figured out the gate was the way to go. We have one little one left and we call it "Lucky".

We aim to try to renovate the coop as much as we can without harming the total integrity of the old building. Plan on re-ordering soon. Lesson learned the hard way!

Changes all over!

Been painting, scrubbing, sanding, moving things here and there, planting, cleaning and with the added barn sale, chicks and garden we are busy bee's!

The fun of it all is seeing the changes that are happening slowly and it is amazing at the progress we have made in such a short time. Both visible and small changes, from changing a switch to digging out the window wells (last big rain only a bit of rain YEA! No river Nile in the basement!)

Here is a few pictures of the changes going on:
